Terms of Service
Last updated: October 3, 2026
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully. They are the agreement between you and LegalLens ("we", "us") when you use our website and service. By creating an account or using LegalLens, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1.What LegalLens is
LegalLens helps students understand housing contracts. You upload a contract, and our AI reads it, flags clauses that may be risky, explains them in plain language, gives an overall score, and suggests questions you could ask your landlord.
2.LegalLens is not legal advice
This is the most important section of these Terms.
- LegalLens is an information tool. It is not a law firm, we are not your lawyers, and using the service does not create a lawyer-client relationship.
- The analysis, scores and suggestions are generated automatically. They may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and they may miss risks or flag things that are not actually a problem.
- Housing law differs by country, region and city, and a contract can be affected by rules the analysis does not know about.
- You are responsible for your own decisions about whether to sign a contract. For important decisions, consult a qualified lawyer or your university's housing or legal advice service.
3.Who can use LegalLens
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. By using LegalLens, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
4.Your account
- You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed it.
- One account is for one person. Do not share your account or sell access to it.
5.Your contracts and content
- You keep ownership of the contracts and documents you upload ("Your Content").
- You give us a limited permission to store, process and analyse Your Content, including by using AI service providers, only to provide the service to you. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we must keep a copy by law.
- You confirm that you are entitled to upload Your Content and that doing so does not break any law or anyone else's rights. Housing contracts often include other people's personal data, such as the landlord's details, so please only upload documents you are allowed to share.
- We handle personal data as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
- You can delete any contract, or all of your data, at any time from your account.
6.Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload anything unlawful, harmful or that you have no right to share;
- use LegalLens to harass, defraud or mislead anyone;
- try to break, overload, reverse engineer or gain unauthorised access to the service or other users' data;
- use automated tools such as bots or scrapers to access the service without our permission;
- resell the service or its results as your own product, or use them to build a competing service;
- misrepresent LegalLens's analysis as professional legal advice when sharing it with others.
We may suspend or remove access if we reasonably believe you are breaking these rules.
7.Free and paid plans
LegalLens offers a free option and may offer paid plans. Features and prices are shown on our Pricing page at the time you sign up.
- Paid plans are charged in advance for the period you choose. Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider.
- Unless we clearly say otherwise at purchase, subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
- We may change our prices or plans. We will give you reasonable notice of any change that affects an existing subscription, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
- If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may have a legal right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days. Where you ask us to start providing the service straight away, that right may be limited or lost once the service has been fully provided, as the law allows. Nothing in these Terms limits your mandatory consumer rights.
8.Our intellectual property
LegalLens, including its name, logo, design, software and the way analyses are presented, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your own housing decisions while these Terms apply. You may not copy or exploit any part of it beyond that.
The analysis we generate for your contract may be used by you freely for your personal purposes, such as discussing it with a landlord, a friend or an adviser.
9.Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep LegalLens available and accurate, but we do not promise that it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, change or stop parts of the service. If we stop a paid feature, we will refund any amount you paid for the period after it stopped.
10.Ending your use
You can stop using LegalLens and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, or if the law requires us to. If we close your account without a breach on your part, we will refund any prepaid amount for the unused period. Sections that by their nature should continue after the end of your use, including Sections 2, 11, 12 and 13, will continue to apply.
11.Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, LegalLens is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the analysis will be accurate, complete or suitable for your particular situation, or that following it will lead to any particular outcome with a landlord or agency.
12.Limit of our liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for intentional wrongdoing, or any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for losses that were not a reasonably foreseeable result of our breach, or for indirect losses such as lost opportunities, including a lost room or lost deposit, arising from decisions you made based on the analysis;
- our total liability to you for all claims relating to the service will not be more than the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or 100 euros if you used only the free service.
13.Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live. Any dispute will be handled by the competent courts under the applicable law, and nothing in these Terms removes your right to bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live where the law gives you that right. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve any problem informally.
14.Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or on our website before they take effect. If you keep using LegalLens after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you can stop using the service and delete your account.
15.Contact
If you have questions about these Terms, you can contact us through the contact options on our website or from your account page.
